Origin Unity

I'm in a bit of a pickle with the State of Origin. See, my parents are from South Australia, I was born in Western Australia, grew up in Queensland, and now I live in New South Wales. So, who do I root for? Honestly, I was never that into the State of Origin or NRL, but then I met Emily. She’s a die-hard NSW fan. Naturally, I decided to dig deep and become the biggest QLD fan you've ever seen. Why? Not just because they win more or because I look better in Maroon (which I do), but because it’s way more fun when there’s a bit of rivalry.

But it got me thinking—what’s more important than the state you were born in or the team you cheer for? What about our identity in Christ? In Galatians 3:28, it says, “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Just like I had to pick a side for the game, we often find ourselves divided in life. But in Christ, do these divisions really matter? No way! We’re all one big team.

So, whether you’re cheering for NSW, QLD, or just in it for the snacks, remember our true identity is in Christ. We’re all on the same side. And while Emily might be decked out in blue, and you'll catch me wearing maroon on game day, I'm just excited to be there, united with all of you.
