Sundown Sessions: New Beginnings

We are thrilled to announce the successful launch of our Sundown Sessions on Wednesday evenings! We have already held two sessions, with an astounding 51 people attending the first week and similar numbers at the second. It's been truly heartwarming to witness such a turnout despite our lack of advertising or a marketing campaign. We sensed that God wanted us to start small and simple, and grow into all we are called to be.

During these gatherings, we've been diving into the book of Genesis, exploring themes of light in a dark world and understanding Jesus as the solution to humanity's failings. Our evenings are filled with communion, worship, and fellowship in a relaxed atmosphere. The fire pit and pool table have been great additions, fostering a cozy environment. The musical jam sessions, led by our talented young attendees, have become a highlight, even earning praise from our neighbors who enjoy the music.

We are immensely grateful for the generosity of our community. Thanks to your support, we've received projectors, sound systems, mixing desks, firewood, food, and much much more. God’s provision through His people has been incredible... It is evident He is in this!

Upcoming Event: State of Origin BBQ

Mark your calendars for next week’s Sundown Session! We’re hosting a free BBQ with smoked wings, burgers, and sausages at 6:30 pm. Our official program will wrap up by 7:55 pm, perfect for those who need to head out to other social events. For those who want to stay, we’ll be live-streaming the State of Origin game, with pool and the fire pit available for a relaxed evening. Don’t miss this chance to enjoy good food, great company, and a bit of friendly competition!

Project: Audio Bible

We are excited to share that our Audio Bible project is well underway, although we’ve encountered a minor delay. To comply with copyright laws, we must use four different reputable translations of the Bible. This process is time-consuming but essential. We are committed to completing the entire New Testament by the end of the year, and we believe it will be a valuable resource for many.

A New Way is now partnering with "Insight Highschool Ministries"! Lewis has been contracted to present scripture seminars in local highschools and we have already we have spoken to 141 students, teaching them about the christian faith. Lewis was also able to speak at the local youth alive rally and invite students and youth leaders to make a difference in their local schools.

Why a Warehouse?

You might wonder why we chose a warehouse for our gatherings. Initially, we considered a café or community venue, but the warehouse has proven to be an excellent choice. Here’s why:

  1. Non-Traditional Setup: Without a stage or rows of seating, our space encourages a more relaxed and personal environment. Attendees bring their own chairs, sit on the ground, or lounge on couches, making it feel like home.

  2. Inconspicuous Location: Nestled behind a local café, our warehouse is discreet and unassuming. There’s no sign or giant cross, and people say, “We’re going to the warehouse,” not “We’re going to church.” This subtlety aligns with our belief that the Church is the people, not the building.

  3. Rustic Charm: Our warehouse is real and raw, not polished or perfect. This authenticity allows for a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, complete with a fire pit and pool table. It feels familiar and inviting, breaking down barriers for newcomers.

Reflection: Annabelle, Imi & Carys

"We are Annabel, Carys and Imi. We are in year 12 and we’re going to a new way! Annabel loves long walks on the beach. We love the authentic vibe of a new way and the community aspect that has been created from everyone coming together to make this space possible. As we are transitioning out of youth and more into church we were searching for a place with a more chill atmosphere where we could worship God. We are excited to see how a new way will grow and how we will fit into this new environment. Annabel is only here for the snacks though."

Reflection: Dylan’s Story

Dylan, one of our members, shares his experience:

“Over the last couple of years, I have grown in my faith a lot. I try to attend church every week and have always loved youth group. However, I often find myself zoning out during sermons at church. I am excited for A New Way because it offers a different environment where I believe I will connect more deeply with the talks and sermons. This new community has a refreshing attitude that makes it easier for me to engage and grow in my faith.”

We are excited about the journey ahead and grateful for your continued support and prayers. Stay tuned for more updates and join us for the next Sundown Session. Together, we are forging a new path, building a community that reflects the love, grace and authenticity of Jesus in every gathering.

Peace & Favour,
